We want to see all families thrive not just survive

A sharing family’s big plans for a Community Kitchen!

Tuesday, July 17, 2012

Plans for Playford’s new ‘Community Kitchen’ are underway after I met with some awesome people from Playford today!!

We now have the support of the Playford Council, OPAL & Community Foodies!!

After talking to other families I realised that there is a need for more places to hang out with other people. So because our new space has an awesome kitchen seemingly made for this kind of thing I thought why not utilise it and address another important issue at the same time by bringing healthy food to family dinner tables!

A Community Kitchen is a group of like-minded individuals who come together on a regular basis to socialise and cook affordable and nutritious meals. It costs between $2 and $5 and the members of the group decide what we are going to cook with the opportunity to learn new things like feeding children or cooking for people with allergies etc.

Then we can sit down and have a bite to eat and/or take the food home for our families!

So for all of you who want to learn more about health, cook yummy food and meet new people this will be great for you.
It’s for all members of the community! (Perfect for linkups too!!)

This is a fantastic initiative – one that local MamaBakers (www.mamabake.com) in the area (if there are any) may be interested in, too. I’ll let the Adelaide group know – who can they contact if they are interested in becoming involved?

I’ll also post this to http://www.facebook.com/shareabilitysa when there is more news – or is there a web page for the Kitchen already?
