Family by Family moves online
Physical distancing has shifted how services can provide support to families. Family by Family have pivoted and extended our services so that we can still connect with families, even if they can’t meet face to face.
Link-ups between families are now available over the phone, online, or by video conferencing. In the background team coaching has transitioned to zoom sessions, and ‘kids coaching’ for sharing family children is also happening online, with each child receiving a kids activity pack to support their learning.
The team are also now providing new 5 week link ups to introduce new families to the service to quickly help more families experiencing stress during this time. Family by Family is also helping families who are experiencing hardship to access food and to connect to low-income delivery services.
This is a time of increased change for families, and Family by Family is very much open and dedicated to providing essential supports. Experts are currently predicting that the pandemic could lead to an increase in Poverty, Domestic Violence and poor Mental Health outcomes. Connection is more important than ever, and we’re currently exploring how we could build on and adapt Family by Family further, to provide new kinds of peer to peer responses for families, during COVID-19.
“One of the most concerning risks we see for families already is social isolation. we have concerns for how physical distancing will impact families who are already feeling disconnected and we are committed to reaching families in need. So helpful help is at the end of the line.”
